General Cancellation by Traveler

Travel arrangements can be canceled at any time by written notice (email preferred) from the person who made the booking.

Refund Terms:

More than 30 days before trip start: 80% refund of the full payment
14–29 days before trip start: 50% refund
Less than 14 days before trip start: No refund.

Important:

Notice must be received during business hours (9 AM – 6 PM local time).
Failure to join the trip on the scheduled departure day will result in a 100% cancellation fee unless prior arrangements are made.
Cancellation fees also apply to additional services (e.g., accommodations, activities, transfers).

Force Majeure Events (Including Cruise Not Docking)

If a trip is canceled due to Force Majeure events (e.g., cruise ship unable to dock, extreme weather):

80% of the total payment will be refunded.
Alternatively, we can offer a future travel credit valid for 12 months.
No additional financial compensation will be provided.

Cancellation by Iceland Highlights

Failure to Pay: If full payment is not received by the due date, we reserve the right to cancel the booking with no refund.
Operational Cancellations: If we cancel for operational reasons (not Force Majeure), a full refund or a suitable alternative will be offered.
Responsibility: Iceland Highlights is not responsible for other travel arrangements impacted by our cancellations.

Package Tours (Multiple Services Booked Together)

20% deposit upon confirmation (non-refundable).
80% balance payable 30 days before the tour start date.

Cancellation Terms:

More than 30 days before start: 80% refund
14–29 days before start: 50% refund.
Less than 14 days before start: No refund.

Additional Notes:

5% of the full payment is always non-refundable due to transaction processing fees.
Changes within 30 days before the start are subject to availability and may incur extra charges.

Credit Note Option:

If canceled more than 30 days before the start date, the 20% deposit can be converted into a credit note valid for 12 months.

Transfers (Airport or City Transfers)

10% non-refundable transaction fee applies to all cancellations.
Cancellation more than 24 hours before service: 90% refund.
Cancellation within 24 hours before service: No refund.
If canceled by us: 100% refund. (Due to unforeseen situation from the operation side)

Long-Distance Transfers (More than 1.5 Hours)

Cancellation more than 48 hours before service: 90% refund.
Cancellation within 48 hours: No refund.

Landmannalaugar & Þórsmörk Transfers

Cancellation more than 14 days before service: 90% refund.
Cancellation within 14 days: No refund.

Shore Excursions

Cancellation less than 48 hours before the event: 100% cancellation fee.
If your cruise cannot dock (Force Majeure): 80% refund offered.

Day Tours

Cancellation more than 48 hours before service: 90% refund.
Cancellation within 48 hours: No refund.
If canceled by us (e.g., weather): 95% refund.

Northern Lights Tours

Cancellation more than 12 hours before the service: 90% refund.
Cancellation within 12 hours: No refund.
If canceled by us (e.g., weather): 95% refund or credit to reschedule within 1 year.

Accommodation Cancellation Policy

Group Bookings (More than 6 Rooms)

28+ days before arrival: No fee.
14–27 days: 25% fee.
3–13 days: 50% fee.
0–2 days: 100% fee.

Individual Bookings (Less than 6 Rooms)

Cancellation 48+ hours before check-in (local hotel time): 10% Fee.
Cancellation within 48 hours: 1 night’s charge per room.
No-shows, late arrivals, early departures: No refund.

Important Notes

All refunds are processed in Icelandic Króna (ISK).
Bank fees and currency fluctuations may impact the refunded amount.
Travel insurance is strongly recommended to protect against unexpected delays, cancellations, or emergencies.
